Model CA Tone - 00/12/12

The Tone class cruisers carried Aichi E13A "Jake" and perhaps the older Nakajima E8N1 "Dave" floatplanes during 1944. Due to the short range of the ship's radar, these aircrafts were used as "scouts" for the ship to determine if there were enemy ships over the horizon. Aircrafts were launched from catapults in the stern and recovered by landing on the ocean. To ensure uninterrupted operations, the ship carried "spare parts" - this included the spare wing tips and also their floats. Both of these parts were carried next to the funnel.
