Model CA Tone - 00/11/20

Started work on the funnel. Typical of Japanese warships, the Tone class cruisers had multiple funnels which are joined together at the exhaust port. This arrangement moves the forward funnel which normally would sit immediately over the forward boilers significantly rearward. This is important because the forward boilers in the Tone class is located immediately under the bridge. The trunk of the forward funnel here looks quite large. This is because the forward part of the funnel is normally not visible since it is located inside and under the rear part of the bridge structure. I will be using this model to "cut" a "tunnel" in the bridge structure - look for an update in the near future. Another advantage of this setup is that by fusing the two funnels together and tilting them backwards, this reduces the smoke and soot exposure of the bridge personnel and equipment. Of course it is not a good idea to contaminate and obstruct the delicate optical equipment such as rangefinders and binoculars with the exhaust.
