Model CA Tone - 00/10/27

The compass bridge has now been enclosed with a roof and windows. There are a lot of details which still needs to be added to the roof but that will come next. Wave and wind deflectors have been added to the front of the bridge windows. These are very interesting structures which as far as I know are not present in ships of other navies (11/08/00 Note: I stand corrected here. Bob Riemer pointed out to me that these do in fact exist on warships of other navies i.e. the U.S. ships). It appears that they serve two purposes: 1) to deflect the wind and waves pretty much like a snow plow blade - which they resemble. 2) to channel wind under, through, and upwards past the windows. My guess is that this can help to keep the windows clear of moisture - what an interesting idea. I think some of you may have notices similar structures on over the back windows of some contemporary SUVs or minivans which channel wind past the rear windows of these vehicles - same idea !! The positions lights which I introduce last time have been added on both sides. Also identified are the storage binds for signal flags. These are position on the rear of the signal deck and allows flags to be hoisted up the foremast. When the foremast is added later, you will see that it is located immediately behind the signal bridge.
